Brief
The Pambayun family inherited their grandfather's house: four-metre ceilings, cracked encaustic tiles, and teak wardrobes too heavy to move. They wanted the house to live again without losing its memory.
Approach
The encaustic tiles were re-pressed in Kotagede from the old floor's pattern, and every intact piece went back into the corridor. Teak doors and windows were planed, oiled and rehung on new hinges rather than replaced.
Bedrooms moved to the east side so guests wake with the morning light. The front sitting room became the place everyone gathers: a teak daybed, a brass floor lamp, and tall windows that are always open.

“Kinan never sold us a style. Kinan asked what time we wake up, then moved the bedrooms to the east side. Our guests always mention the morning light.”
